I apologize for not having updated once this month, but when you enter the part of the calendar year where there's really nothing to talk about, these parts tend to become barren. It didn't help that the Bulls' only representative in the Olympics, Luol Deng, played for a team that did next to nothing. Hope he at least fun playing for Britain in Britain.
The biggest story for the Bulls at a dormant time of the year continues to be the recovery of Derrick Rose. Over the past few days, everyone from Jerry Reinsdorf to Michael Jordan have given their opinions and even compared this situation to when Jordan broke his foot early in his sophomore campaign and missed 64 games. Jordan insisted on coming back for a final playoff push late in the year rather than sit until the following season. Now that he owns the Bobcats, he can see the other side of the spectrum. Reinsdorf doesn't want Rose playing in another game until it's absolutely certain he's healthy.
There's' no denying that Rose needs to take it easy on the road back, even if he is in fact 2-3 weeks ahead of schedule. That "news" isn't even worth getting excited over unless you take every piece of reporting at face value. A torn ACL is not to be taken lightly. You might be able to throw darts and make a guess of when he'll play a meaningful contest again. I think he'll return sometime after the All-Star break. My dad, quite the pessimist, is sure he'll miss the whole year. Regardless, Rose is a young professional athlete, meaning he'll do everything in his power to return as quickly as possible. I only hope everything he has learned so far is in the back of his mind. No need to jeopardize the franchise's future for selfish reasons.
When he does return, it'll be a beautiful thing for the city and Bulls fans the world over. In the meantime, enjoy Adidas' new campaign chronicling Rose's recovery, starting with this video.
